What mom doesn’t love to bestow gifts onto her children? I do. It’s one of my favorite things. This Christmas eBay and I struck up quite a friendship. I had a blast buying what I thought were just the perfect gifts for my sons. Not always an easy task as my boys are in their late teens and early 20s, so great thought is required. Even with the great thought some gifts missed their mark this season. One Notre Dame hat didn’t quite fit, sizes or colors a bit off. I was a little disappointed because I chose each so carefully and since it was eBay - no returns. Still a very happy Christmas all-in-all with much appreciation shown.
I wonder though, how God feels when He bestows on us what He KNOWS is best for us and we don’t think it’s quite right. He knows it; He doesn’t just think it. It is in His plan for us and we don’t use what He gives us as He wishes we would. Why not? Too time-consuming? We don’t feel we are ready? Objections to God’s will abound more often than not in most moms’ lives. We are so busy! We listen to everyone. Sometimes it’s just too darn hard to hear God through all the other white noise of our lives.
That’s why we need to make a place where we go to God regularly to listen to Him. Just as each one of our children savor precious one-on-one time with us, our Father wants us to make the time, to carve it out, to be with Him. Today, do it no matter what. A few minutes. Get the ball rolling. He’s always there. Show Him you’re available. Pencil Him in.
