As moms we bundle our children and cart them to church each Sunday. We say we are going to church. But do we ever tell our children that we are the Church? Do we tell them a church isn't merely the building? We need to do that.
In today's retreat we are asked, "Who will see God's light and love in you today?" As moms, our greatest audience is composed of our children - varying ages but all our children. The circle extends to our children's friends and their families as we get to know them better. School activities, especially sports in our house, broadened my family's circle of friends. I think of that pebble thrown into the pond with the ripples reaching ever outward - further than we ever would have imagined.
You are the pebble whether you want to be or not. It's a given if you have children. Realize this fact and embrace it. Be good. Do good. Be that good example your child needs. Teach in all you do. Before you get out of bed each morning ask God to give you the grace to be the best parent you can be.
