Have I ever told you how I know I'm doing something right? I get chills. This has been happening for a few years now, ever since I began my journey toward God. Today has been an afternoon of chills following quite a bad morning. I finally arrived home after getting nearly hopelessly lost from a place that's really not very far away at all. So stupid!
I come home, surf through the channels and light on a channel I don't usually watch. Chills! Message tailormade for me.
Much of my day was just plain wasted and I have much to do in the next few days preparing for a writer's conference. I think a mom's biggest problem is time - how on earth to fit in all that must be squeezed into our days? Well, I thought I'd better write another post here for you to read before you jump ship, so I settled in and clicked onto the retreat. Chills!
"We share the mission of the disciples to share the message of Jesus with others." Moms, you are my others - my most favorite others, to be sure! What a terrific affirmation that I am spending my time in a way that is pleasing to God. And as an added bonus this post practically wrote itself today.
Good luck this weekend, moms, with all you must accomplish as you be the Christ for your children.

Don't Let Our Weeds Catch Hold of Our Children
In today's retreat we remember that we were created by God, created in His image. "We are called to imitate." How do we imitate? Do we imitate? Because we surely know our children imitate us. So, again I ask, as our children imitate us, do we imitate our heavenly Parent?
As moms we are our children's first teachers. How many of us have ever accidentally let that bad word slip out of our mouths and the next thing we know, we've expanded our little one's vocabulary? Oh, aren't we proud! They hang onto that word and keep it at the forefront of their minds knowing it will shock when used.
But hopefully, our children also see and mimic the good we do. We speak kindly most of the time, we do what is right. We try to bring people closer to God. I think the greatest gift one can be given is a child. It is the most awesome responsibilty.
We can be the best example or the worst example; it is always our choice. Whatever we choose, chances are darn good we are planting the very same kinds of seeds in our youngsters' souls at a tender age. It's much harder to weed once the weeds take hold. Don't let our weeds catch hold of our children. Imitate God.
